“They have missile lock!”
Beep! Beep!
Alarms blared through the cabin of the starship.
We wove through the asteroid field as constellations smeared into streaks of light against the black of space. Behind us, three Ghost Squadron fighters closed in, blasting floating boulders apart as they pursued.
Lilith chose that moment to chime in.
No pressure, the demon muttered telepathically, but I’d estimate we have about fifteen seconds before those thugs turn us into cosmic dust. If you have any brilliant ideas, now would be the time…
“Thanks for the support,” I snapped. “If you have anything helpful to contribute, let me know.”
The nearest fighter unleashed another salvo. Missiles spiraled toward us, thrusters glowing orange.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Okay…
I’m not actually locked in a starship chase somewhere between Aeos and Lendeter-Beta.
(That’s more like a scene from Lucian Lightbringer & God’s Bounty, the #1 bestselling story of an exiled angel and his demonic partner turned interstellar bounty hunters. You can grab a copy here:

But that’s exactly what it feels like on Christmas Day after a cup of hot cocoa, two glasses of Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider, a slice of lemon meringue pie, and half of a molten lava cupcake with vanilla ice cream.
The sugar rush is peaking.
And you know the crash is coming.
We can’t outrun the missiles forever.
And the sugar crash is as inevitable as Ghost Squadron rockets.
Feel good now.
Luckily, feeling good now doesn’t crash like sugar.
Feeling good now rises and falls like a wave.
Sometimes it’s higher.
Sometimes a little lower.
But in every moment, there’s something available that actually supports us.
When we feel low and tired, feeling good now might look like resting…
Taking a nap…
Thinking about something kind or beautiful…
Or reading a good book — like God’s Bounty or its epic sequel Lucian Lightbringer & The Chalice of Life:

When we feel energized and in flow, feeling good now might look like exercise…
Working on something that matters to us…
Spending time with friends…
Or dancing for no reason at all.
Feel good now.
It’s always a good decision.
It’s always available.
And it never turns you into space debris drifting through an asteroid field.
Whether you’re high-energy or low-energy…
There is always a feeling-good option.
So long as you remember to look for it.
Feel good now.
And if you want something I know will feel good now, pick up God’s Bounty or The Chalice of Life.
They have the energy of all the Christmas sugar you can eat but without the crash.
With love from my desk aboard Lucian’s starship UMBRA,
Jack
P.S.
The Lucian Lightbringer series is a fan favorite for a reason.
Epic action, vivid worlds, unforgettable characters.
