That’s what Indiana Jones’s father said when he watched his son drive a Nazi tank off a cliff to kill one of the main villains in “Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade.”
Today, I relaxed with my grandmother in her Chicago apartment and watched all three of the original Indiana Jones movies back-to-back-to-back.
I hadn’t seen my grandmother in nine months, so getting to spend the whole day within three feet of her was a treat.
I rested my head on her shoulder as Indiana Jones explored lost temples.
I catnapped while he jumped out of crashing planes.
We laughed and ate dinner side by side and she offered me food from her plate.
We felt good the whole time.
Feel good now.
At the climax of the third film, Indy drives the tank over the cliff and his father — played by Sean Connery — thinks he has died heroically.
“I’ve lost him,” he says.
And this line made me realize something about feeling good now.
There’s a moment that comes when you realize you’ve let go of the version of you from before.
The one who was always trying to work hard…
to figure life out…
to justify or earn feeling good now.
Instead of just…
