When do you use the toilet?
Probably…
whenever you need to.
Bear with me, because this is an important point.
Imagine you’re out in public and your body starts giving you bathroom signals.
What do you do?
Walking around with a full bladder is uncomfortable.
So you probably start looking for a friendly Starbucks where you can rush in and use the bathroom.
But I’ve noticed something interesting.
When people feel bad, they don’t always respond the same way.
Instead of looking for relief, they start talking about all the reasons they feel bad.
Why it’s justified.
Why the world is broken.
Why life is hard.
But here’s the thing…
If you have to go to the bathroom, none of the stories matter.
Your body doesn’t care.
“Oh, I drank too much water.”
“Woe is me, cursed with a tiny bladder.”
Doesn’t matter.
When you have to use the toilet, you figure out how to get to the bathroom.
So when you feel bad…
figure out how to feel good now.
Feel good now.
Get good at feeling good now.
Learn what gives you that feeling of relief and ease.
Your mind and body don’t care about the explanations.
They just want you to take care of them so they can feel good again.
Feel good now.
When I feel bad, I might:
- read a book
- take a nap
- think of things I’m grateful for
- go for a walk
- eat a tasty snack
- spend a few minutes with someone I love
Because I’ve practiced.
And I know what feels good to me.
Everyone has their own ways of feeling good now.
The important thing is that you use them.
What are some of the ways you feel good now?
I’m putting together a list of common blocks people have around feeling good, and I’d love to include real, human ways people actually get back into ease.
Reply to this letter with a few of your favorite feeling-good activities or mindsets.
Your response helps me share more bliss with the world.
Much love,
Jack
P.S.
Reading is one of my favorite ways to feel good now.
A good book fills my mind with positivity, relaxes my body, and lifts my heart with epic emotion.
That’s why I write mythic books full of adventure and spiritual wisdom.
